Design Museum in Copenhagen

A museum is reborn

The Danish museum with the very straight-forward name “Design Museum Danmark” has been closed for renovations. It was founded 1890, the building is huge and a piece of art in itself. It’s located in the central part of Copenhagen and surrounded by an elegant park with trees and greenery. The museum holds plenty of rooms for exhibitions and is currently showing pieces from the museum archives, slow fashion design and iconic pieces through the history of furniture.

I asked the communications director to take me back to this room. Its beauty makes me want to write love poems to it.

Design Museum in Copenhagen, Bredgade 68

Design Museum Danmark is re-opening again on Sunday June 19th. I was invited, together with what felt like the whole Design industry of Copenhagen, to the press-tour today. And you know what? This is a museum I want to visit again and again. The light coming in from the big windows that were once designed to cure patients with the rays of sun, the well-curated wall colours, the journey through patterns, textures, nuances, and design trends was absolutely delightful.

The museum currently has an offer, for 130 DKK you can get a ticket to the opening that you can exchange for a season ticket. Read more here.
