OperaSport at Copenhagen Fashion Week 2024

Today I went to my second fashion show ever, and it was the Danish brand OperaSport taking place in the Opera House in Copenhagen; A beautiful view, and expectations were high. It was a bright and sunny day and we could feel that spring might be coming soon. I biked from my home on Amager, through Christiania, and came just in time for all the fashion girlies to start arriving. The opera was packed with photographers, as well as guests.

Opera Sport uses recycled materials and is a brand that takes responsibility seriously. The AW24 show was presented to classical music playing and the runway was outside of the actual opera hall‚ using the interesting architecture of the opera hall, designed by
Henning Larsen
.

The collection included lots of neutral colours, some different textures and silhouettes, but stayed true to the concept of interesting everyday wear – and bold outerwear, something that we desperately need in Scandinavia.

As the sustainable content creator I am that have been working to inspire and promote responsible fashion for so many years now, I’m truly happy to see how big the interest is for OperaSport. OperaSport has received quite a lot of hype, and they have only been around since 2019.

Let’s peek into a couple of moments from today.

Stephanie Gundelach, the co-founder of OperaSport is married to the Danish handball player Mikkel Hansen, who was present to support his wife (last in the video).

What people wore to the OperaSport AW24 show

I saw a lot of long dark coats and surprisingly many fur coats. I also saw outerwear with animal print; leopard, but also zebra pants. The classic Danish knitted elefanthue also known as a balaclava was to be seen; mostly big, soft, and knitted versions tied underneath the chin, and the crochet DIY inspired accessories. Overall I saw a celebration of what’s going on in Copenhagen right now; including the Palestinian keffiyeh.

I was pleased to see the Palestinian scarf.

Dark long coats are still a staple.

The crochet purse is often seen in Copenhagen.

Knitted and crochet balaclavas.

A video is coming up soon on my YouTube channel about the outfits that I wore, and how I made them. Yup, as per usual I’ve sewn my outfits. Find my channel here.
