Iconic designer lamps: New and vintage

Lamp are the best way to accessorize a room. What light you have in a room set the mood and a lamp can add some colour, shape and interest to the decor. By choosing the right lamp for your room you’ll be able to completely change the vibe.

Here are some examples of iconic lamps – both modern designs and vintage classics.

Artemide Nessino Mushroom Lamp

One of the most iconic mushroom lamps was designed in the 60’s, when plastic was fantastic – but this lamp still holds the test of time and adds lots of character with its oversized shade and bright orange colour. It also comes in white.

Verner Panton Flowerpot

The well-loved flowerpot comes both as a table lamp – in various sizes – and as a pendant. It comes in lots of different colours and is often seen in restaurants, cafés, and hotels. In my opinion, it’s a little too mainstream, but it’s easy to see why it has become so popular: It has a very handy shape and the colour options make it easy to style in various spaces.

Flos Snoopy

This lamp is one of those that grabbed my attention instantly the first time I saw it. It has a unique shape, it’s almost like leaning back, and doesn’t go unnoticed. It feels modern, despite being a classic vintage piece. It was designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni.

Flos Gatto

This cocoon lamp is also designed by the Castiglioni brothers for Flos. It gives a soft light with the whole lamp covered in an air ballon shaped shade. Definitely a lamp to set a cozy mood in your space.

Project Para

New and modern designs are coming from the Romanian designers behind Project Para. They 3D print their designs in funky and fun shapes; some of them are soft and round, while others are more pointy and sharp. If you’re interested in finding new designs – check out Project Para.

Valerie Objects Hanging Lamps

I am a big fan of wall lamps; they add interest and balance to a space by not being on the floor – as most of our furniture. Valerie Objects are creating my favourite lamps at the moment: The wall-mounted hanging lamps with the classic cobbler lampshade hanging from a funky bow-shaped fixture.

Globen Lighting

The Swedish lighting company Globen Lighting has a lot of fun lamps; my favourite is their lamp Cobbler, which is very similar to Valerie Objects’ hanging lamp, but with a wavy lampshade that creates some softness.
